Second District Holiday Dance

By: Dad Shuler

On Saturday December 16, 2006 the second district held its annual Holiday Dance at the Cleveland Masonic and Performing Arts Center.  Several of our members, our chapter sweetheart, and neighboring rainbow girls joined the rest of the district to bring in the holiday season in style.  Everyone had a great time dancing the night away.

I would like to thank everyone for their help and support in making our Inspection an awesome one.  It was also great to have 17 members present at our inspection.  It has been a great term so far and I plan to finish it with a lot of activities.  Winterfest is this weekend and district basketball starts January 14th.  We also have tobogganing and indoor paintball coming up this month, so don’t be a stranger.  Don’t forget we need your help with our fundraisers too.  We had a great year raising funds in 2006, but let’s work hard to make 2007 even better.

Financial News

By: Stewart Kilkenny

Hope you all had a merry Christmas and so far are having a happy new year! Well I am sorry if any of you are not going to Winterfest  because it looks like loads of fun.  January is full of fun events and we will be starting the fruit sale soon. February is the last month of this term and we should finish it with tons of fun. If you have any ideas for next term please E-Mail me at StewartK5@verizon.net or call me at (330) 242-0551. I look forward to hearing your ideas and getting them into next term.

Membership

By: Tim Williams

Membership was strong in 2006.  Our chapter initiated 26 new members in 2006, but now in 2007 we are back to zero.  So, what’s our plan to get more members this year?  The best thing you can do is to share DeMolay with your friends.  You know they would like to play football, basketball, paintball, or go bowling, so bring them to our next activity and get them involved!  The more fun you have the easier it is to get your friends interested.

Being Rebuilt - Tentative Reopening Mid-January 2007 - Twin 1/2-mile long refrigerated toboggan chutes operate 40 degrees or colder, snow or no snow!

Guys, I just got off the phone with Bear Creek and they expect to have the toboggan chutes open by the end of January.  Trust me it will be worth the wait.  The chutes are awesome and seem to go on forever.  The best part is NO toboggan to carry and NO steps to climb.  There is a truck that carries both the toboggans and riders to the top of the chutes.  http://www.bearcreek.us/features.html

Sweetheart’s Perspective

By: Brittani Carpenter

My year is off to an exciting start. With the caroling at the nursing home, and the Holiday Dance, I have to say, I’m excited to see what the New Year brings! I’m especially excited for the events that are going to take place this month. Basketball begins! I will be there at every game cheering on the boys as they lead us to many victories. Good luck boys! Hope to see everyone there.
